ABS-CBN's new show: Imortal

Well, kakatapos lang ng pilot episode ng new series ng ABS-CBN called Imortal. It's a show about vampires and werewolves roaming our society. Or ayun ang pagkakaintindi ko. I don't know, I wasn't really paying attention to the story of the show because seriously, nothing happens in these first episodes story-wise.

But what really caught me was the show's premise...

OMG. This is epic.

Well first of all, sinong makakaisip magcombine ng mga wolves sa mga vampires? I mean locally speaking. Commonly kasi di ba manananggal, mangkukulam, kapre, tikbalang at aswang in general ang nasa mythology natin? So this combination is really a fresh take and a great addition to our local supernatural beings. And they're throwing in a love story as well.

Woah! Combine romance with horror with action with drama with gloominess and tons of hairnet and you might end up with something quite similar. Pinanood nyo ba kanina? The show was extremely articulate. And detailed. I don't know kung napansin nyo pero Jomari Yllana (dahil backstory pa lang sya kanina) had red eyes whenever he was on vampire mode. Very, very terrifying and sexy at the same time. I know I've seen that effect from somewhere though I'm not quite sure.

Though I'm pretty sure it's not from him. Yellow yata mata nito. (Hepatitis?)

I don't know about similarities with Twilight kasi eh. Mukhang wala naman yata. Lalo na sa episode kanina. There was this scene in the woods kung saan naglalandian si Lara and Jomari. If you looked at the details, they showed that Jomari's as pale as... ummm. I'm not sure... diamonds? Or puwit ng baso? Which is understandable dahil nga vampires sila. He was also wearing what looked like a brown jacket or vest or something.

But moving on. The episode was jam packed with story and action. There was some sort of prophecy about a kid born on the end of the 7th month yata that's destined to fight the villain or some lord something on a base while at the same time, there's this other kid who's like technically the same but has some kind of force (leading to Jomari saying: "Malakas ang pwersa ng isang ito") and high amounts of midichlorian in the body. Then they'll be like bitter rivals as they grow up and attend a school for their kind while they bring a ring to Mount Makiling yata. Interestingly fantastic!

And oh, dahil this one's about vampires and wolves and such, expected na madaming action scenes talaga. On the first episode alone, there was an explosion, Angel Locsin talking, some chasing, explosion, Angel Locsin standing, some bloody birth scenes, Angel Locsin, I'm pretty sure there's an explosion there and neck-kissing.

Nakita ko to kanina sa episode... I swear!

So sinong magsasabing ripoff ito? Look at all the new ideas that they're introducing to our society. These are what we need these days. Originality. Stuff na nakakamangha. Nakakamanghang madami pa palang ideas ang hindi pa naeexplore. Look at ABS-CBN's current lineup of programs:

Is extremely different from Glee

So for ABS-CBN (di ako nakakapanuod ng GMA-7), ituloy nyo lang yan. These shows are really enjoyable and sigurado ako, ikukuwento ko lahat ng ito sa mga susunod pang henerasyon.

"Nung panahon ko, ang gaganda ng palabas sa t.v., lahat bago..."

btw Imortal, give me this everyday please?

And please remove Magkaribal, that show's an extremely dramatized version of Project Runway lang naman. Wtf is up with that show.
